Information Management Project Presentation Guidelines
You are a healthcare worker at a rural nonprofit hospital and part of a project steering committee.
The hospital is interested in replacing its original EHR system. You have been asked to screen the
marketplace to see what types of EHRs are available and prepare a presentation for the Board of
Directors outlining the options and your recommendation. You must create an Audio PowerPoint
describing your findings and recommendation in detail. You will present your project as if you
were addressing a board of directors that will decide whether they will utilize your proposal. Your
presentation should be less than 10 minutes in length. Your presentation must include the
following:
Introduction-Clearly explain to your audience why you have chosen the specific HER.
You should provide details that grab the audience’s attention immediately and
demonstrate why this EHR is the best choice.
Relevant Content-Include all relevant information regarding this proposal. You should
include slides with figures, graphs, charts, etc. Clearly explain each of these components
so that the information is easily understood. Describe in detail which EHR you recommend.
Include a justification as to why you have chosen this particular EHR.
Conclusion-Provide a concise and clearsummary of your presentation.
In addition to the content areas above, you will also be evaluated on four other things:
Visual Aids- PowerPoint presentations should follow specific guidelines to ensure the
audience remains engaged and can easily follow the speaker. Using PowerPoint best
practices (see websites), create your presentation to grab the audience’s attention.
Ensure your slides are not cluttered, and use an appropriate font size.
Organization- Ensure that your presentation logically flows from slide to slide. You
should strongly consider writing a script for this project and then practicing the script
several times not to sound robotic. Remember, you are presenting to a Board of
Directors!
Delivery- Your narration should be easy to understand and well-presented. Your
presentation should be clear and loud enough to be easily heard. Your audience
should be able to access and listen to the presentation easily. Your slides should
advance automatically.
Impression- This section will evaluate whether or not you were convincing in your presentation to
the board of directors. You will be scored on how convincing your evidence/proposal was and the
probability of the board voting to implement your proposal
