I was shocked when I read that “Globally, the health care sector emits 4.4% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Just in the US our industry is responsible for 8.5%” (statnews.com, 2021). That is huge!
Excessive use of health care results in greenhouse gas emissions, which intensify acute and chronic health issues, and chronic conditions of acute and chronic health conditions result in increased use of health care. This vicious loop worsens the negative consequences of health-care consumption. National initiatives aimed at preventing it are required.
