After reading Chapters 6 and  7, class powerpoint lecture, resources, and watching the 3 video clips for today:  What important issues/concepts/terms did the Chapters 6 and 7 raise regarding women’s role in global economy, specifically Capitalism? What is the “feminization of labor” and why is it significant to understand? What questions and issues were raised for you after learning about the two case studies (maquiladoras and sex tourism) through reading and video clips? Give specific examples . Were you aware of these issues before this week’s class lecture? What solutions, if any, were posed through the readings, class lecture and video clips to create change and improvement in regards to these 2 case studies as well as to the overall condition(s) of women (and children) who are oppressed through their labor, nationally or internationally?
