Describe a society in which gender distinctions are still quite clearly marked

Describe a society in which gender distinctions are still quite clearly marked. How do the expectations for men and for women differ? Do some of these expectations still exist in the United States? Besides obvious anatomical differences, are there real gender differences between men and women?

please respond to two student posts at least paragraph long.

Cory,

in this day in age women have fought for equal rights and im all for it. the times of the woman staying home and the man going to work is over. because to me you need to have two incomes to be able to live in this world that we live in. how do expectations differ to me it shouldn’t differ but it does and in my last job it would get me mad me and this girl had the same job title got paid the same but yet I had to do all the heavy lifting why because im a man remember equal rights. I would have to close and work alone but yet the girl I worked with never had to work alone or be in the store by her self because she was a girl. I once had a office interview I was the only male in the group I didn’t receive the job not because I wasn’t able to do the job but because the company wanted a girl. but if say a car repair shop said I only want a male then it would be sexist. so I do think we have came along was with equal rights but we still got along way to go

In a few other countries gender distinctions are still very much clearly marked. In many ways men and women are not equals in these societies, women are subject to the past thinking of our country (reer children, don’t work or attend college) and far worse than that. The expectations for men and women differ because men are treated as superior while women are treated as their husbands property instead of a woman or human. To a certain extent these expectations are still existing in the United States Of course not as horribly as other countries or the United States in say the 50’s and up. In my opinion there is still a stigma around mothers needing to be or being the parent primarily in charge of raising children, while it is the norm now that both parents equally raise children and they both work outside of the home, outsiders (family members, friends, co-workers, etc.) still tend to point out when the husband is doing their part as a father almost always in disbelief and excitement stating that they should be praised for doing things for their child such as changing diapers, feedings, bathing etc. but when does this happen when the mother is doing these things? In my opinion there are no real gender differences between men and women, besides obvious anatomical differences. Everyone is equally capable of doing their very best in life and achieving all their goals, career goals, educational goals and beyond that.
