Mathematical concepts have a measurable characteristic in them and such include algebra. Non-mathematical concepts on the other hand do not have a measurable characteristic within them such as chemical reactions involving diffusion in an experiment. To illustrate, one can obtain simplified examples of algebraic expressions and solve them, for instance if Y+2=4, then Y has the same value as 2.
