Think of a situation in which you or someone you know used one of the three ethical stances of rhetoric
Directions: Think of a situation in which you or someone you know used one of the three ethical stances of rhetoric (violent, seductive, or loving) and discuss how this affected the outcome of the interaction. In other words, identify the ethical stance taken by the speaker then explain how it affected the interaction for the better or worse.
In the essay, you should include a discussion of:
A description of the situation(what was the situation, who was involved, where did it occur, and what happened?)
You should choose a situation that allows you to be detailed and help you answer each question fully. Be able to refer to specific statements, non-verbals, etc. to help you support your answers.
What rhetorical ethical stance did you, the other, or both take? How and why? (In this situation, was I a violent arguer, seductive arguer, or loving arguer)
Be specific by identifying certain behaviors (ex. language choice, tone, non-verbals, etc.) and connecting them to the ethical stance.
How did your ethical stance affect the interaction for better or worse? What would be the outcome if you had used a different stance?
