Explain the problems associated with attempting to address exposure scenarios in risk assessment.

Paper details: Please write a three page paper based on the following below (Use of required text is highly important and assigned writer needs to have access to the textbook):

Page 1 and 2: Please answer the questions in the attached homework wk. 3 worksheet in essay format. All questions requires an essay format responses. No multiple choices. Please site all references and explain and elaborate by providing detailed responses. (Please use required text here in addition to other sources) – 500 words

Page 3:
Section 1: Find a published journal article that discusses or applies one or more site conceptual models. Summarize the article. Be sure to state the purpose of the article. Is it a review article, which highlights strengths and limitations or weaknesses of various site conceptual models? Are one or more site conceptual models being applied in a study? Either way, be certain to include in your discussion any limitations and suggested or applied solutions.(Please use required text here in addition to other sources) – 300 words
Section 2: Please read, critique, and respond to the following attached discussion. Use the sub-heading below:

Response to torres.doc (1 reference) – 50 words

Comments from Support Team: Discipline: Environmental Risk Assessment

According to the EPA “Pollution prevention is reducing or eliminating waste at the source by modifying production processes, promoting the use of non-toxic substances, implementing conservation techniques, and re-using materials rather than putting them in the waste stream.” This model applies to pollution of all types including air pollution. My concept of pollution prevention follows the EPA model, where a combination of pollution reduction and conservation of resources would be the most effective model to reduce or eliminate air pollution. Such measures for air pollution reduction or control could include minimizing air pollutants; encourage the use of recycled materials, and promote alternative energy.
Another approach to pollution prevention could be illustrated in attempts to institute stack source or mobile source controls where attempts to limit emissions in these specific sources are implemented in order to reduce air pollution. Stack source or more commonly known as a point source is a single identifiable source of air pollutant emission. Examples of stationary sources are smoke stacks at manufacturing facilities, incinerators, furnaces or other fuel burning devices (EPA, 2011). Mobile sources refers to any mobile combustible engine such as motor vehicles this includes automobiles, boats, and aircraft but also include lawn mowers or anything that emits pollution into the atmosphere (EPA, 2011).

Since the primary source of air pollution originates from the combination of stack and mobile sources these source controls are closely regulated by the federal government. The advantage of stack and mobile source controls is it addresses the primary source of air pollution. By setting emission limits via air permitting and requiring institutional controls to help minimize the potential for exposure to air contamination. The disadvantage is this does not limit all forms of air pollution and only sets acceptable limits of emission rather than eliminating sources of pollution.

Homework 3
Using a combination of the assigned readings and researched outside sources, respond to each of the following with one or more fully developed paragraphs. Cite all sources.
Explain the problems associated with attempting to address exposure scenarios in risk assessment.
Describe five different methods of incorporating exposure scenarios into risk management which help avoid the pitfalls associated with addressing exposure scenarios.
Find a published journal article study which conducts an ecological risk assessment. Which of the five methods (or combination of methods) you described in response two is used to define the risk scenario? Note that this may or may not be explicitly stated in the article. Justify your answer.
Define assessment endpoint. Explain why the selection of assessment endpoints is difficult. Describe the criteria for selection of endpoints for ecological risk assessment

………………………Answer preview…………………………

Exposure scenarios define the various conditions on how dangerous substances can be handled effectively without exposing consumers, workers, or the environment to unacceptable risks. Risk management is ideally the continuous process of identifying, analyzing, evaluating, and the treatment of loss exposures………………………..
