Chapter 11 discusses the importance of technology in response to a hazard. Imagine if we did not have access to the internet, cell phones or TV during the current pandemic. Our society is dependent on the World Wide Web. We would not have been able to transition our seated classes to online classes.

The text also discusses ICS ( incident command system). You should already be familiar with this system from completing the FEMA course.

In chapter 5 we were introduced to the Emergency Operations Center.

We are living in historic times with this pandemic. I would like you to do research on the community you are currently living and answer the following questions. Please add photos or video links to support your response.

Has your city or county established an emergency operations center in response to the current pandemic? If so, where is it located? What is the function of your local EOC?What M.O.U.’s are playing a significant role in managing this crisis?

How does the state level response to managing the pandemic differ from the federal level response? Give examples from your personal experiences on how the state or federal response has impacted you or your family’s life.
