Objective
To critically examine some of the main teachings and theoretical ideas in Paulo Freire’s book,
Pedagogy of the Oppressed (2000) as related to the processes of teaching and learning. In other
words, what would Freire advocate for in terms of the routines, rules, rituals, relationships, and roles
of educational environments frequently discussed in class?
Guidelines
1. Paper Length: 5-6 pages double-spaced (approximately 1,250 – 1,500 words)
2. Font and Formatting:
? Use Times New Roman, 12-point font.
? 1-inch margins on all sides.
? Include a title page with your name, course title, instructor’s name, and date.
? Use appropriate citation style (APA, ASA or MLA).
3. Content Requirements:

? Body:

in detail.
? Include at least three direct quotes (properly cited in-text and in Works
Cited page) from Freire’s work to support your points.
? Explain how these elements can influence teaching and learning.
? Conclusion: Summarize your main points and reflect on the implications of
Freire’s ideas for contemporary education.
4. Use of Quotes:

contextualize each quote in relation to your discussion.
5. Citations:
