A potential challenge for evaluation would be turning to someone for feedback and they are not being supportive

A potential challenge for evaluation would be turning to someone for feedback and they are not being supportive. Although I do not see that necessarily being a challenge in my field education experience, it’s not to say that it will never happen. Also, it is not to say that it will not happen in my professional social work career, which makes it important to be prepared. In supervision, it is important to be supportive. The importance of it is that it focuses on sustaining staff morale, cultivating a sense of teamwork, building commitment to agency goals and mission, encouraging workers by providing support, and dealing with work-related problems of conflict and frustration (Garthwait, 2017).

If I ever feel that I am not being supported, I will address that with my supervisor. If that is unsuccessful, I would address it to my field instructor to gain some more insight in how to deal with an unsupportive supervisor. Working in social services is difficult as it is, so having to deal with a leader that is not being supportive makes it that much more difficult. It can lead to feelings of stress and burnout, which is not beneficial for the clients we work with (Garthwait, 2017).

My action plan to address the challenges is to review and continue my professionally development for the agency to address concerns and way to work around the environmental and societal barriers. Assisting the client with the methods and tools for de-escalation and crisis management will aid in their self-preservation. I will continue to evaluate ways to improve the ways of presenting interventions and education to my clientele. I also plan to review other documented case evaluations to allow me to understand case progression that leads to healthy evaluations to closer.

An explanation of potential challenges for evaluation during your field education experience

An explanation of potential challenges for evaluation have been present due to being assigned tasks from several individuals. It has been difficult to be evaluated on the work I have completed due to the many changes that occur while completing tasks. The other challenge has been coming to an understanding about to carry out task and how much time should be spent on them. All of these challenges make it difficult to be evaluated effectively. Professional social workers often use supervision to ensure the quality of their work and to provide a structure for ongoing professional growth for students as well as other staff (Garthwait, 2017). Meeting weekly to discuss tasks, goals, and concerns can be helpful to enhance your learning experience and decrease many challenges.

An explanation of personal action plans you might take to address evaluation in your field education experience

The plan that I have created to address the challenges with being evaluated is first writing down task that have been assigned, confirming how tasks should be carried out, and understanding how much time needs to be spent on each task. I also planned to send an update once task have been completed along with a weekly summary. Supervisors have many tasks including administrative tasks that include monitoring of written documentation, coordinating work assignments, monitoring efficiency and effectiveness, and ensuring that services are evaluated and improved over time (Garthwait, 2017). It is my hope that keeping track of the task will decrease confusion about what task have been completed and allow for an effective evaluation.

Potential challenges that one may face when dealing with the progress of the clients could be something as small as a disagreement. Some clients feel that they are not involved in the evaluation process which in my opinion is essential. If a client feels that they do not have a voice as it regards to treatment, they may not comply. During my field experience while meeting with my client, i communicate the progress shown and I also engage with my client as to what we both want to see improve as well as how they feel the treatment is going. While the challenge may be the clients possibly feeling left out of the evaluation, the action would be as i stated previously. I would communicate with the client and include them in the progress notes as well as decision making.
