Using your musculoskeletal lectures, pick an injury/disease/condition that directly affects the musculoskeletal system. You will be writing a case study about this injury/disease/condition.
Using the example case studies listed on BlackBoard, create a case study about this injury/disease/condition as if you are his/her treating physician. Be creative with this! You
are making up all of the background info! Please utilize medical terms learned in this course so
far where appropriate.
Include details such as:
The individual’s name, age, gender, health history (10 points)
Diagnosis (which injury/disease/condition do they have, where in the body is it affecting)
(10 points)
What happened/how the individual got hurt/the background story (10 points)
o Acute vs. chronic
o Family history?
o If an injury, what were they doing? How did it happen?
o If a disease, when did they start noticing things? How did it develop? Is it caused
by something else?
Signs or symptoms experienced by the individual as a result of their
injury/disease/condition (use medical terms) (10 points)
What form of treatment you will be using as his/her physician (diagnostic tests, therapies,
surgical procedures, first aid procedures, pharmaceuticals) (5 points)
Describe your prognosis for the individual (how long until recovery, etc.) (5 points)
Keep in mind I do not necessarily expect you to include ALL the info included on the example
case studies. However, I do expect you to put some effort, creativity, and work into this. Ensure
you are addressing all the points listed above.
