There are 5 stages to the purchasing decision process. There is problem recognition, information search, alternative evaluation, purchase decision and post purchase behavior. My husband and I actually used this process the other day when he was thinking about purchasing a new car. He thought that it would be a good idea to buy a third vehicle. His vehicle is old and seemed to always be in the shop and that left us with only 1 vehicle and he has 1 full time job, I have one full time and one part time. It was very difficult splitting my car. My husband and I went looking at vehicles and test drove a few. We tried to figure out if it was the best idea for us to do and we decided it was. My husband ended up buying his second vehicle for a really great deal. He really realized it after the car was bought when he looked at Kelly Blue Book and the car was listed for a lot higher than we purchased it for. My husbands “old” car is in the shop this week and it was nice not having to worry about how we were both getting to work.
