Assume that polling accurately gauged public opinion. Should political leaders incorporate or rely on public opinion in their decision making? Some say that elected officials should be above public opinion, doing what they think is in the best interest of the country, despite popular sentiment. Others feel that leaders are truly to be representatives of the people and so they must be responsive to public opinion. What do you think?
