Debbie McQueen :I would assume that both parties would be punished, but I don’t personally believe that Meg is in the wrong.  She was doing a kindness by helping Chris.  Chris is the guilty one by copying her work.  It was never stated that she gave him permission to copy her work.  All she is guilty of is letting Chris know how his paper should be formatted.  I offered to help a student in my other class who didn’t know how to do a powerpoint.  I ended up not helping, thankfully, but all I was going to do was show them how I did mine.   I was not going to give them permission to copy mine, just how to format.  My was probably wrong, but I did it how I understood it was to be done.

Assuming that both students would be punished is a wrong because Meg has chances that she would be forgiven for the academic misdemeanor. This is because she can tell Professor Griffin that she did not intent to help Chris plagiarize his work. By helping Chris she wanted to give him the chance to get the structure of how to do his academic work……………………………
