Developing a Restaurant Crisis Management Plan and Presentation

A restaurant can experience any of these situations—yes, even the one you are working for now! The last thing you want to be is a victim of collateral damage after the crisis occurs.

Food poisoning

Sexual harassment accusations

Worker injuries or death

Fires

Power failures

Lawsuits

Assignment Instructions:

After reviewing all the weekly materials posted and using your own research, author either a self-narrated PowerPoint or video. Discuss and provide examples which address or answer the following questions. You will post your presentation and works cited page to the weekly discussion board. You will review at least (1) fellow learners posting and provide specific and meaningful feedback.

Discuss the purpose of a crisis management plan.

Discuss and provide examples of why a crisis management plan is important.

Introduce your Crisis team. What is each position in the operation responsibility or assignment during the crisis situation? How will the crisis plan change when the operation is closed versus when it is open?

Select (2) topics from the following areas and create and present a crisis management plan for each topic

Food poisoning

Sexual harassment accusations

Worker injuries or death

Fires

Power failures

NOTE: the presentation piece should not include any narrative addressing questions 1 and 2 above. The presentation should be the steps to each of the plans only.

In a separate attached word document provided a works cited page to share with fellow learners.

Assignment Parameters:

How long should it be? – limited to 5 to 8-minute video or 10 slides or less

What will we be graded on? Quality and depth of discussion to demonstrate your knowledge of the topic and apply it to development of part of a crisis plan; not the quality of the presentation.

Using and presenting credible sources: A Minimum of at least 5 sources must be used to develop this assignment. I expect you to use the materials posted in the week’s required reading; articles and videos. You can add to these by providing your own sources as well.
