Controversial issue
Select a controversial issue and write a classic argument that uses at least two reasons to support your claim. Imagine that you are addressing a neutral or undecided audience. You should state your claim (your position on the issue) at the end of the introduction, begin body paragraphs with clearly stated reasons, and use effective transitions throughout to keep your reader on track.
MUST INCLUDE:
-An introduction that grabs the reader’s attention
-Present a controversial claim (key word: controversial)
-Provide at least two reasons to support claim; supports reasons with evidence (logos)
-Engage reader emotionally and imaginatively (pathos)
-Provide fair summary of opposing views and shows their weaknesses (ethos)
EXAMPLE TOPICS include: abortion, immigration, political views, transgender/lgbtq community etc
