Chain of command
Educational institutions are traditionally hierarchical. However, organizational gurus such as Schien, Senge and Fullan promote lean and agile organizations that respond to customer needs.
E. Pinchot and Pinchot (2003), notes that “An organization that overemphasizes the role of the formal chain of command cannot embrace the multidimensional nature of the challenges organizations face today” (p. 46).
Recognizing the value of the above quote, how might you promote leadership practices that reduces formal chain of command structure and engages with communities. Identify at least three ways chain of command structures hinder community engagement.
