Cloning can be a very touchy and controversial subject to discuss. Mainly because there is not enough knowledge about cloning to really give a educated opinion about it.  there are many differences between a clone and a “normal” animal. differences are such as over growth, and obvious enough they are not conceived in a normal manner of the normal or original animal. they are not identical as one may think. Colors change, size changes, attitude and actions are different as well, even twins that are identical do not act the same in personality.

My personal opinion about eating cloned meat or vegetables is undecided at this point. Through research recently my belief and skepticism is changing as to how safe and nutritious it. i would not nor have it ever thought that anything cloned would taste any different. In competition i do not think that it is ethical or fair to use horse that are cloned.  the fact that they are bigger and possibly stronger due to alterations and mutations is to great to not consider.

Yes definitely 50,000 dollars can be used in a better way to help other animals everywhere that need rescuing. This is selfish to try to make anything immortal, and not go through the natural grieving process. It’s all a part of life.

An article that I read, it states that cloned food has been mixed in with non-cloned meat from cattle for the past 20 years and it appears that no one has even noticed or objected.   In the article, a scientist stated that in a cloned animal, there might be vitamin deficiencies that a normal animal would have.  (Yang. et al (2007) Risk assessment of meat and milk from cloned animals. Nature Biotechnology.)  In the article.  This article also stated that the FDA stated that there were really no dissimilarities in the cloned and un-cloned animals, which some people deducted that the cloned animal’s meat or milk would not harm humans in any way.

In my opinion, cloning a pet as Barbara Streisand did in the reading for $50,000 is absurd.  I don’t understand the concept or the risk of genetic mutation or anything else that would go wrong with the animal.  I believe that the cloned animal is at risk for a shorter lifespan some sort of genetic disorder.  I believe that if these cloned pets have any genetic disorders, the chances of the cloned offspring to pass these down to their offspring is great.  If this happens, then we still have the problem of overpopulation still, but they will be animals that no one wants, and they will be senselessly euthanized.  We have many animals on this earth that are homeless and starving, in my opinion, that money that was used by Barbara could have been used to purchase a non-cloned animal that would be like the one she had.  The rest of the money could go to organizations that save and adopt unwanted pets.  This would cut down on pets that are euthanized every single day.  Let’s take care of the animals that are not cloned first and foremost.
