Section 3 – The Progressive Era and World War I: choose one

1. Discuss New Left activism and counterculture in the 1960s. Where did some of their strategies originate and what were the issues they sought to combat? How did they used culture to influence American society? How did identity play a role in shaping the movements of feminism, black power, and gay liberation?

2. In what ways did the 1970s and 1980s bring about economic changes in the United States? How did some of the social issues of this period challenge and shape conservatism and liberalism?
