Option 1: An Overview of the Civil Litigation Process

Civil litigation involves a complicated series of steps. A resolution is often reached through a settlement between the parties involved, but sometimes a trial is necessary. In a few cases, resolution is not reached even when the trial finishes (for example, when an appeal is filed).

During this week’s Seminar, we will discuss the “Overview of the Civil Litigation Process,” listed below in a flash movie. Pay special attention to the terms in bold. Click anywhere on each slide to advance the show. There is also a navigation bar at the lower right corner.

Option 2- alternate assignment:

You will benefit most from attending the graded Seminar as an active participant. However, if you are unable to attend you have the opportunity to make up the points by completing the alternate assignment.

If you are unable to attend the seminar, you can still learn the information provided by the seminar and earn the seminar points. The alternate assignment is to listen to the seminar archives and provide a clear synopsis of the material covered at the seminar along with your analysis of that material. Your paper should be no less then two pages and no longer than three. In order to earn the seminar points you must put your alternate assignment in a word document and attach it to an email to your instructor within 7 days of the seminar.
