Anxiety is one of the most common diagnoses in adults and children. Parents don’t always recognize that their children have anxiety because it doesn’t always manifest in the same way as adult anxiety. Counselors need to educate parents and educators on how anxiety manifests in children so this disorder can be recognized and adequately treated.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), approximately 9.4% of children had diagnosed anxiety disorders in 2016-2019 (2023).

How may anxiety in children present differently than anxiety in adults?
What tools would you use to determine an accurate anxiety diagnosis in a child?
