Business Law Tort Toyota Case Write-up Rubric:

You have been given the Toyota Accelerator case to explore and write about. There are questions implied in the cases

I will not tell you what to write about. You will decide on what to explore from your reading. The issues will be apparent to you.

Profile the company and the legal issues it faces that are impacting its ability to achieve its strategic brand objectives.

This legal issue(S) can be presenting an opportunity or a challenge – or both. Discuss the legal issues; identify the places where the issues are being presented (court, regulatory, in the boardroom, all of the above, etc.)

Focus on the strategy in play and advise the company how it should conduct itself in relationship to the objectives it wants to achieve. You are managing consultants advising the board– not lawyers.

Instructions for Case Write-ups:Please answer all the questions that have been assigned as case preparation questions in the course reading and preparation guideline document (the case). Outside research is critical to succeed with this paper. Citing the case DOES NOT count as outside research. You are encouraged to attach exhibits to support your write-up. Here are some guidelines for including material in the appendix:

All exhibits should be clearly referenced in the write-up (don’t include material that is not discussed and specifically referenced in the text of your report).

If you are referencing published research/articles, indicate the source of the data. Research will be suitably rewarded.

More is never better. “Data/text dump” will lead to the instructor being overwhelmed, which will lead to a lower grade.

Analyze; do not merely repeat facts. If you merely summarize what is in the case write up, you will earn a “C”.
