There were four contradictory statements that were made by the British during WW1. They included, The McMahon – Hussein correspondence, the Sykes – Picot Agreement, the Balfour Declaration and the Anglo-French declaration (Gough & Eiscnschitz, 1996).

The McMahon – Hussein correspondence was made in 1915 when Britain [promised The Sheriff of Mecca, Hussein to offer support for an independent Arab Kingdom. In return, they had to mount an Arab revolt against the Ottoman Empire….
