Some of the consequences of a social scientist’s emotions or biases showing up in their research is incorrect or opinionated data. In the more extreme cases a social scientist could tweak scientific findings or omit other findings to better support their opinion or biased way of thinking so they don’t have to adjust their line of thinking. Emotional opinions don’t belong in science for the integral good of the science and the good of everyone. Even in something like social science you have to ignore your biases and report your findings as you find them even if it is contrary to what your opinion states or what you believe.

The potential bias in “empowering idents” is the fact that every one of the women in this is in a place of power, or talks about being ostracized in some way for being a female or for their appearance and/or disability, this is promoting women in a positive light, but the lack of trans women may have hindered what they were trying to accomplish

The only real thing i can see here is the potential racial bias, as it tends to focus on cultures with darker skin tones, and only one white skinned face bib. If they continue to make this and expand on the cultures they show on the bibs it would be beneficial and remove that potential bias that is shown.

The only real bias i can see here may racial as the only people we really see in this one areasian, and it is spoken solely in an asian language, they do have the one individual who appears to be of native descent but it cannot be confirmed. A cast of more diverse people may be helpful.

I don’t see much bias in this piece, it has people of different body types, genders, races, and sexualities, and promotes that we need to stand together as the human race rather than view each other as different in a bad way.

What might be the consequences whether positive or negative of a scientist’s emotions or bias showing up in their research?
Starting with emotions:
When a scientist allows their emotion to enter their research depending on whether it is positive or negative could impact results in that same form. When emotions are positive, they tend to reflect that positivity. You see it in the dedication and time spent on that specific work, you see it in the results. Displaying more intense and detailed research, exhausting all viable options. Reported results would be prompt (meaning that they didn’t drag their feet) and detailed. They would be less likely to report inaccurate and omitted results. You could even see the possibility of an advance being made. If you are going into something with negativity you already know that no good comes from that and you could see the consequences of that would result in unfinished work, false reporting, things purposely being omitted to suit that scientist. You defiantly would see that there is no open-mindedness for any other ideas.
Remember that emotions can be good or bad, you can go into a situation with the best of intentions and do all you can for a positive outcome and still get something negative. That could happen just because it was the way it was supposed to go, or it can happen because you pushed so hard for a positive outcome that you forced a negative one.
Speaking about bias, there is no room for bias in any type of science. Bottom line you allow bias in your research you are not getting real science you are getting someone else’s opinion.
With my four advertisements I see bias in all but one.
Advertisement 1: Google Body Type
With this advertisement I don’t see any type of bias. I think that this is the most open advertisement I have ever see the amount of diversity in it is astounding all races, all genders, shapes, sizes, sexual orientation all of it is included in this ad and I am impressed it is made in a way that it can catch the attention of anyone young, old, and male, female.

The use of Katie Couric and Taraji P. Hansen say that they are looking to have their targeted audience being women as well as the younger women population (young women and teens). That is the only thing I see is gender and age bias.

This one got me I think that most would say that the bias would be the nationality that it was specifically created for being that the advertisement is in a foreign language and is acted out by all foreign women. Also, it was bias in the form of the woman having a role in this advertisement were all transgender individuals.

Automatically I knew what the bias was going to be when I started the video. Which raises a question. I’ll ask at the end. When Dawn appeared she’s a woman, professional, in place of power, and a minority. She is also disabled. Racial bias, Gender bias, disability, but I am not sure what bias that would be. Charannjit is also a disabled woman. Beverly is also a woman, and she is in a place of power being a police officer. Gender bias. Faye is a woman in the place of power, she has tattoos, and is also a minority. Gender bias, Racial bias. Angela is a woman in some field of medical, with a tattoo and in the neck and with what would be considered a man’s haircut. Gender Bias. Chantal is a woman who is in what most would say is a man’s job with a man’s haircut. Gender bias. Cassandra is a woman with pink hair, she is outwardly expressing individuality. I’m not sure what that bias would be labeled as. Charisma without being subjectively with my opinion I wouldn’t see a bias, If I were to be I would assume that she is a professional Black woman. Then that would make it have potential bias such as race and gender.
