Beth Whelan: I have a few “tricks” I use to remember important information. At home, I write everything down that I want to remember. I re-read the list multiple times, and then recite the list in my head as I do other things like chores. Studying is a little different for me. If I can’t print out the notes, I write them down. Writing down the powerpoint presentation helps me to put it in my head. Though, it is helpful for me to print out the notes. Whichever I do, I re-read the material multiple times, then try to recite what I have read in my head. The reading showed similar patterns for studying. I need to have visual cues in order to put the information in my brain. Then I review the material, and then repeat the material. Knowing what study habits work for me, makes my life easier.

Writing down information helps to put into the mind. Moreover, reviewing the written information over a number of occasions helps the information to stick into the mind. This is one of the tricks used by students to recall information they have learned in the classroom. Although extensive reviewing of information helps one to remember, the pathway created in the mind often deteriorates with time……………………….
