Prisons are overloaded with inmates who are incarcerated for drug offenses. What is an alternative to incarcerating them? Describe how you would handle this type of problem without incarceration, and give reasons supporting why your solution would be more cost-effective and prone to rehabilitation. Most of the prisoners in jails are arrested for nonviolent offenses. The offenses are mostly drug-related. However, jail does not serve to reduce the criminal offenses. It also does not prevent rearrests after the initial release. In many cases, after inmates leave prisons, they return to their communities but their life is fraught with problems.
