In this week’s reading, “Adult Learning: An Overview,” Stephen Brookfield asserts that “ the attempt to construct an exclusive theory of adult learning—one that is distinguished wholly by its standing in contradiction to what we know about learning at other stages in the lifespan—is a grave error” (para. 2).

As stated by Cervero & Wilson (2001), there is no learning theory that can be applied effectively to all adult learners. Past literature provides explanation on a wide range of models, principles, theories, and assumptions that help enhance the adult learning process. In this regard, there is no doubt that an attempt to develop an exclusive theory on adult learning would be a grave error.
