Assess whether the individual’s contributions are likely to continue influencing cultural development.
Prepare a 7-8 slide PowerPoint Presentation nominating a 20th-century figure whose work or artistic contributions can be classified in both the Age of Modernism and the Age of Pluralism for the 20th Century Genius Award. The nominated figure should stand out in your mind as a genius of Western culture. The presentation must include the following:
A very brief synopsis of the individual’s life and times—no more than one or two slides. (see comment below regarding speaker’s notes)
A survey of key ideas and/or artistic works that reflect this person’s genius
An appraisal of the individual’s impact on the arts and culture
Assess whether the individual’s contributions are likely to continue influencing cultural development.
Note. Presentations will be assessed for the following: content, organization, and structure and how well students defend their choice of genius. Detail and creativity will be factors in assessing the final work.
Speaker’s notes of 75-100 words are required for each presentation slide.
Cite at least two outside sources used in writing this presentation.
Please post a copy of your Presenter’s notes as a separate Word document in your Individual Assignment Folder. This makes it much easier for me to evaluate the text–thank you!
