Our text describes the open systems theory as a metaphor for the entire organization. The opposite of this approach is a closed system. This approach is very different from theories of organizations in the early period of the industrial revolution. View the film at the PBS American Experience website (see link below) titled ‘Henry Ford.’ This biography of Henry Ford also gives a great deal of information about his management approach and the environment in which Ford Motor Company existed. Use the information in this film to identify and explain how Ford Motor Company and Henry Ford himself approached management from a close system perspective. Then make recommendations for how Ford could adapt to the changes in its environment.
