Platonic distinction: Answer two (2) of the following questions based on the lectures and assigned readings.

Using the Platonic distinction between appearance and reality, Kant argued that we, in fact, never have knowledge of reality but only of things as they appear to us, and that the mind itself contributes the forms in which we know appearances. As Kant said in perhaps his most famous statement, “The mind is itself the lawgiver to nature.” What arguments did Kant give to elucidate this statement?
How did Hobbes’ view of the mind differ from Descartes‘? How is Hobbes’ view of the mind similar to or distinct from your own?
