Changes in Policing and crime control
I need to use two academic journal articles- my research question is: How has policing changed from the past until now? What are some methods for preventing crime? Which way is most useful and why?
Here are some articles I previously made notes on for the class Sthneziingh, M., & Boomsma, J. J. (2015). Policing and punishment across the domains of social evolution. Oikos, 124(8), 971-982. doi:10.1111/oik.02064
Crane, B. (2015). YOU’RE ON CANDID CAMERA. Georgia Trend, 30(12), 17.
Andresen M. Identifying changes in spatial patterns from police interventions: the importance of multiple methods of analysis. Police Practice & Research [serial online]. April 2015;16(2):148-160. Available from: Academic Search Premier, Ipswich, MA. Accessed March 23, 2017.
Demonstrates a thorough understanding of context, audience, and purpose (in other words, you are writing appropriately for the purposes of this assignment). Uses appropriate, relevant and compelling content to illustrate mastery of the subject (in other words, you are formulating a paper that uses relevant sources and quotes, and you are reflecting that you understand what you are talking about).Demonstrates detailed attention to organization, presentation, content and formatting (in other words, your paper is presented in a logical, organized way that aligns with APA formatting requirements and general writing conventions appropriate for this assignment). Reflects skillful use of high-quality, credible, relevant sources to develop ideas (in other words, you don’t just use two peer reviewed journals because they were the easiest ones to find… that would not be the best foundation for a quality paper. Instead, you clearly found the best sources you could for the research you wanted to conduct, and you cite it appropriately).Demonstrates control of syntax and mechanics (in other words, you are skillfully communicating with clarity and without grammatical errors).
Issue/problem/question to be considered critically is stated clearly and described comprehensively (in other words, you say exactly what you are researching, and explain varying perspectives on said topic).Information is taken from sources with enough interpretation/evaluation to develop a comprehensive analysis or synthesis (in other words, you question the viewpoints of experts, and you note gaps in their analysis, and point out opportunities for future research).Your argument/opinion clearly takes into consideration other perspectives.Your conclusion is logical based on the information that you presented (but again, such information has to be comprehensive).
Sociological concepts and terminology are used appropriately. The use of a “sociological imagination” is clearly reflected, wherein you are examining your topic within the greater social context. The sociological relevance of your topic is made clear.Format is APA
Here is some notes I already took from the articles above (Needs in text citation)
This is the topic:How has policing changed from the past, and what are the methods of crime control

Policing refers to a civil force that is organized with the intention of maintaining law and order, detection and prevention of or crime and enforcement of laws of a land.
