Assignment Instructions: Now that you have selected a topic for your Research paper/proposal argument, the next step is conducting research. Summaries of outside sources: What did the writer say and what do you think?
(A summary is a non-biased overview of something you have read. A good summary should convey the essence of the whole piece, clarifying the author’s main point.)
To complete a summary, you must include the following:
-Your name
-Your research topic
-MLA citation of article
-Summary, approximately 150 – 200 words
-Brief commentary (3-5 sentences). You might consider the following questions: How has this piece influenced or complicated my own thinking? How does this piece relate to my issue questions? How might I use this piece in my own argument? Does it have facts and data I might use? Would a summary of this argument support or oppose any of my own points?
To receive full credit you must have TWO summaries from TWO different articles
