One of the defining feature of scientific research is that it uses a certain criteria that must be met before the reality is accepted, the assertion that is put forward must be both empirically and logically supported and not contradicting an actual observation. This uses methodology to find out more about an assertion. Non- scientific inquiry on the other hand uses no methodology, nor does it have any criteria for defining the reality.
