Dispute Resolution Center

I appreciate your post. What specifically stood out to me was when you mentioned that bias-resistant practices include counselors resisting a sense of urgency and being patient while helping clients. The resource you provided from CUNY was very helpful and interesting, as it contains three key concepts: trauma-informed and bias-resistant practices, as well as procedural fairness (CUNY Dispute Resolution Center & MH Mediates, 2023). Part of being patient with clients is accepting challenging behavior; as counselors, we need to be prepared to provide support in less urgent ways.

What do you think is the most significant risk we face as counselors in lacking patience with clients who have experienced trauma?
