How to be Successful in This Course
The live TEAMS Thursday Q&A are critical to attend (or view the recording) as they will specifically address that particular week\\\’s discussion prompt and answer any course or videos lecture questions.
There are 2 essay exams in the course. The midterm exam (30 pts.) and the final exam (34 pts.) count for 64% of the final course grade. The exams will be ‘open-book’ exams. A list of potential exam questions will be posted in the Course Menu at the beginning of the course. From this list, 2 exam questions, will be randomly chosen on midterm exam DAY for you to answer. You will have from 6AM to 11:59 PM to submit your essay answers. Because you will have foreknowledge of the questions and longer preparation time available, excellent answers are expected. Historically, exam answers have been 7-14 pages to answer both questions, although some have exceeded 20 pages (the record is 28 pages). Expected information includes the lecture videos (essential), Q&A videos, and supplemental information from the book and outside reading. Historically, successful students compose the essays during each and every week of class in preparation for the exams.
Face to Face Question and Answer sessions will be held every Thursday @ 11:00 AM ET through the link below . If you are unable to attend the live session you may access the recording of the Q&A at a later time. The recording will be posted in the Announcements. You will use this same link each week.

Before posting your Discussion posts it is advisable to attend/view the recording of the Thursday Q&A which will specifically provide clarifying information to answer the prompt in an informed manner. If you look at the syllabus section that expands on the midterm and final essays required, do note that the essential information required for the essays are to be derived from the lecture videos and Q&As which reflect the most current thinking regarding the respective topics. Again, be sure to attend, or review, the Q&As which will be available in the Announcements section of Blackboard after each Q&A session,. The Q&As cover each weeks discussion prompt in detail. The book and outside scholarly reading is needed but supplemental. In essence, focus on the lecture videos and Q&A.
Please note that I always provide feedback on your assignments. Go to the Grades area in the course menu and click on the icons next to your graded assignment to view the rubric and comments.
