Engaging in behaviors
Excellent point regarding the end of counseling possibly being “scary” for a client, Cindy! I have found this to be the case with many of mine. This can become clear because the client openly shares their discomfort, or they may reflect the distress behaviorally.
Signs the latter is occurring include regression – the client starts to decline in terms of progress, begins Engaging in behaviors they had previously changed – anger towards the therapist, and/or sudden presentation of new issues.
