Assignment Instructions
Ratio Analysis
Calculate the following ratios:
- Profitability ratios: Gross Profit Margin, Operating Profit Margin, Net Profit Margin, Return on Assets (ROA), Return on Equity (ROE), Return on Capital Employed (ROCE)
- Leverage ratios: Debt-to-Asset Ratio, Debt-to-Equity Ratio, Interest Coverage Ratio
- Liquidity ratios: Cash Ratio, Quick Ratio, Current Ratio
- Efficiency ratios: Inventory turnover, accounts receivable turnover, and asset turnover
- Price ratios: Earnings Per Share, Price-to-Earnings Ratio, Dividends Per Share
Interpretation and Analysis
Interpret the results of each ratio and evaluate Tesla\\\’s financial performance compared to the industry average.
Trend Analysis
Calculate the same set of ratios for the past five years to observe any trends or patterns. Analyze these trends and discuss what they might imply for Tesla\\\’s future performance.
Decision-Making
Given the results of the ratio and trend analyses, propose at least three strategic financial decisions Tesla could implement to enhance profitability, reduce leverage, improve liquidity, and/or increase efficiency.
