A self-reflective paper
Think about yourself. Be critical. What are your own biases? What assumptions do you have lurking in your thinking? Through a self-reflective paper of 600-800 words, arrive at and describe two or three ways that you can apply critical inquiry to both understand yourself more clearly, and thereby also develop empathy and improve your emotional intelligence. Don’t forget to use the correct APA format.
Specifically, drawing from resources throughout the course (including, for example, those lists of critical questions from week one or the ‘standards’ questions from week 6 that can be easily modified), organize your self-reflective paper around the following two explorations:
- First, formulate what you feel are the most important questions that help name your own biases, assumptions, and/or perspectives – those attributes of your thinking that prevent you from understanding the perspectives or experiences of others. Present and apply those questions and reflect on what they teach you.
- Second, based upon that analysis and equipped with those questions for critical self-reflection, reflect further on how you will take this new learning into your current or future professional role, and into your role as a citizen. How, specifically, will this impact your decisions, actions, and interactions?
