The students will have the opportunity to explore various careers that may interest you and report on one of them as they align with the fields covered in class. They may select a career from any of the industry sectors covered in class (i.e., tourism, lodging, food and beverage – restaurants and beverages, managed services, clubs, spas, cruising, theme parks, gaming entertainment, meetings, and events). For this assignment, students must work individually to discover, research, and report on a career that directly relates to the fields within the hospitality industry that we review in class. This assignment must be typed, double spaced, APA format, and 12-point, Times New Roman font. The paper must include a cover page and a reference page. There should be a minimum of three citations, and one of the citations must come from the class textbook. The paper\\\’s minimum length is two full pages (not including the cover or reference page). Spelling, grammar, and proper citations are to be presented at an undergraduate college level and will be graded accordingly. Assignments are to be uploaded into the correct Canvas assignment dropbox and in Word/PDF format. Your assignment must include the following details:
- What is your ideal \\”dream\\” job in the hospitality and tourism industry?
- Why do you want this job? Explain what attracted you to this position and what are its
advantages.
- What are some concerns regarding this job?
- What is your career plan to get this job?
- What are some resources you can use to get this job? (networking, internships, etc.)
- Which professional organizations/associations can you join to help you get this job? List at
least one organization/association and explain how its membership can help you.
