• Imagine that you are preparing for a care conference with an 81-year-old patient with COPD and diabetes, her boyfriend, and her two adult children. You have been asked to lead a discussion with the patient and family about plans for the future, and you are aware that this patient does not have any advance directive or medical power-of-attorney documents on file.
ASSIGNMENT
SUBMIT 1-PAGE IN WHICH YOU:
Post a brief summary of the main points you would want to convey to the family in the care conference. Explain what you would do and say if the patient expresses reluctance to create formal advance directive documents. Explain how you would ensure that all parties are given an opportunity to contribute to the discussion, but the patient’s wishes are prioritized. Describe how you might navigate disagreements among family members.
