The screening and appointment process involves many stages.

In cases where a medical staff member’s credentials are not screened properly, the health care organization can be held liable for injuries to patients as a result of the lack of investigation. The screening and appointment process involves many stages. These include the application, an evaluation of the applicant’s physical and mental status, the applicant’s release of information from third parties, the applicant’s provision of a certificate of insurance, provision of evidence of an applicant’s state licensure, evaluation of the applicant’s references, a thorough interview of the applicant, and approval by the governing body.

The ARRT Ethics Committee determines if there has been a violation of the Rules of Ethics. The committee may impose a sanction against the individual’s certification or registration.

Read the ARRTs sanctions and ARRTs Standards of Ethics. There are a total of 22 Rules of Ethics. The Rule of Ethics is section B of the Standard of Ethics document.

Choose 3 Rules of Ethics and give an overview of each. Were you aware of the rules of ethics? Expand your thoughts on why the three you selected are important for administrators or educators to know about employees or students. Discuss how the hospital, department, or educational program could be affected if a rule of ethics was violated. What affect would this have on your department? What responsibility would you have?
