A pair/group can expect to receive an ‘A’ on the teaching episode when they (i) creative engaging and interactive someway; (ii) demonstrate critical understanding of the topic; (iii) both raise and help classmates raise questions that might stimulate further insightful and critical inquiry into the topic; and, (iv) create a lesson that connects with the experiences and questions students have about diversity, and that taps into the strengths that classmates bring such as race, gender, class, nationality, ability, and language.

A pair/group can expect to receive a ‘B’ on the teaching episode when they (i) creative and engaging session (ii) demonstrate a clear understanding of the topics that attempts to go beyond the literal meaning in order to generate inferences; (iii) raise questions that might stimulate further inquiry into the readings; and, (iv) have clearly attempted to create a lesson that connects with the experiences and questions students have about diversity, and that taps into the strengths that classmates bring such as race, gender, class, nationality, ability, and language.

A pair/group can expect to receive a ‘C’ on the teaching episode when they (i) demonstrate an understanding of the reading that addresses key concepts yet shows little evidence of going beyond the literal meaning; (ii) raise and respond to questions about the literal meaning of the texts; and, (iii) show some evidence of attempting to create a lesson that connects with the experiences and questions students have about diversity, and that taps into the strengths that classmates bring such as race, gender, class, nationality, ability, and language.

A pair/group can expect to receive a ‘D’ on the teaching episode when they (i) demonstrate partial or inaccurate understandings of the reading; (ii) lecture an inaccurate reading of the texts and are unable to generate or respond to questions; and, (iii) create a lesson that makes only tangential connections with the students’ experiences, questions, and strengths around issues of diversity.

A pair/group can expect to receive an ‘F’ on the teaching episode if (i) it is not completed; or (ii) it inaccurately explores the readings, disengages the students, and neglects to make connections to students’ experiences.
