Hello class,
I am quite used to writing papers at SNHU since a lot of the course work is very writing heavy. However, this course is the first time I ever needed to write a persuasive essay and try to convince an audience to act on a subject. I feel like I learned a lot about speaking directly to an audience in my writing and I feel that this will help with my work going forward as it is always important to speak directly to your audience in all types of writing.
I also feel that I progressed with doing academic research and inserting that successfully into my writing. Instead of just taking the information and adding it to the paper that I am writing, I feel that I can adequately produce a piece of evidence from an academic source and then convincingly explain why that source pertains to the point I am trying to make. This is all due to the resources that we have gone over in this course and the feedback that I have received over the 8 weeks.

Throughout the course, my writing has improved in structure and clarity. I know I have a long way to go, but the guidance I received in using the P.I.E. method has helped me. At the beginning of the course, my paper needed a clear and concise persuasive topic, making it difficult for readers to understand the main points of my writing. However, through the guidance of my instructor and peer feedback, I learned how to craft a strong thesis statement that effectively communicates the purpose of my essay. Additionally, I have learned how to organize my ideas logically and coherently helped improve my writing flow. I also have a clear understanding of using a creditable reference with the C.R.A.A.P.O. test worksheet. Although it has taken me a while to catch on, this is my first college course since 1998; I appreciate all the resources and instructor Seabolt’s patience. Overall, this course makes me more confident in writing clear and compelling essays.

My ability to find and research topics have improved through this course. I also improved how I integrate the information I found into my paragraphs. I know the importance of transitional words and how to use them. My paragraphs flow better now and the structure of my writing has improved. I believe this course has greatly improved my writing skills.

Deepfake technology can create convincing fake images and videos that can be used to deceive people. It is a growing concern as it has the potential to be used for malicious purposes such as blackmail, defamation, and spreading fake news. This technology can be used to create convincing videos of someone doing or saying something that they never did, leading to severe consequences for the individual who is being misrepresented.
It is essential to consider the negative societal and social implications of such technology. The harm caused by deepfake technology can outweigh its benefits. While the technology may have some positive uses, such as creating realistic special effects in movies or video games, it is important to weigh the potential harm against any benefits.
The advantages of deepfake technology do not outweigh the negative societal and social implications. The technology is still evolving, and it is difficult to control how it is being used. Therefore, it is essential to have legal and ethical frameworks in place to regulate the use of deepfake technology and prevent its misuse. These frameworks should address issues such as privacy, security, and accountability.
In conclusion, while deepfake technology may have some benefits, its potential for harm is significant. It is important to consider the ethical and societal implications of such technology and to have legal frameworks in place to regulate its use.

What were your initial reactions when you first heard about the artificial intelligence of deepfake?
My first experience with deepfake technology was on TikTok. There are a ton of videos of celebrities doing cool dances. Then in the captions, it says it isn’t the actual celebrity but AI I thought that was really cool.
Do you think deceptive technologies, like the artificial intelligence of deepfake, do more harm than good? Or do more good than harm?
Deceptive technologies, like the artificial intelligence of deepfake, do more harm than good. Nothing good comes from deceiving people. Humans remember the bad more than the good so if you see two videos floating around one good and one bad, the bad will always outweigh the good.
“In studies conducted by psychologist John Cacioppo, participants were shown pictures of either positive, negative, or neutral images. The researchers then observed electrical activity in the brain. Negative images produced a much stronger response in the cerebral cortex than did positive or neutral images.” (Cherry,2022)
Do the advantages of these kinds of technologies outweigh the negative societal and social implications?
The advantages of these kinds of technologies do not outweigh the negative societal and social implications. Fabricating images with powerful leaders can cause too many problems on a global scale. It can also ruin the lives of regular people, people already get fired for doing regular videos in workplaces.
