Social media sites can both positively and negatively affect adolescents.

Hello Jason, I think that social media sites like Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok, and Snapchat can both positively and negatively affect adolescents. Like you stated, most of these sites use filters and distort images to make them look more aesthetically pleasing. Some adolescents may not realize that those images are not how a person actually looks and could develop body image, self esteem and mental health struggles from social media comparisons. The negativity from young people on social media is very concerning as well. I know with my oldest Daughter, she does not have any social media or a phone but I still use Bark monitoring for safety because she plays Roblox. This app alerts me if she is being cyber bullied or being talked to by a stranger that is not her friend.
