What are empirical articles
CLASS DISCUSSION: Empirical Articles
What are empirical articles? At the most basic level, an empirical article is the author\’s report of a study they conducted themselves. In the social sciences, empirical studies usually include human participants. If the authors of the study did not collect the data themselves, it is not an empirical article. An easy way to tell if an article is empirical is to skip straight to the Methods section. If it doesn’t have a Methods section, it’s probably not empirical. If the Methods section describes how the authors collected their data, it’s probably empirical. Please review the following website to learn the hallmarks of an empirical article.
