We read in Acts 4:20 that Peter and John declared to the council of Jewish leaders that they could not but speak of what they had seen an heard regarding the testimony of their experiences with Jesus (ESV Study Bible, 2008). The principle of telling others what you witnessed without altering the testimony based on fear of others or personal bias is an excellent principle for researchers to follow. As we conduct research it is imperative that we share truthfully, without bias, the results of our research. This includes sharing all information, even if it does not support your hypothesis or propositions. It also includes admitting any potential biases held by the researcher.
As researchers we can also learn from the passage in Romans 12:2 that we are to renew our minds by reading and meditating on Scripture so that we will not be conformed to the ways of the world (ESV Study Bible, 2008). One of the common positions on ethics, according to the world’s standards, is compliance with the law. However, the Christian must go beyond the letter of the world’s laws and look to Scripture to follow God’s commands and conform to the spirit of the law, not simply the letter of the law. Researchers must go beyond the letter of the law and report accurately and completely all information discovered in their research. This would include disclosure of any biases on the part of the researcher.

Throughout my research, in collecting data and interpreting the information there is a great need that this passage should apply to my research study. I will be presenting the information that was collected during the study in a wholesome and truthful light. Proverbs 14:25 a witness that is truthful jas the ability to save lives, however, the one who speaks lies and is deceitful. I take pride in being honest and having integrity as it is the mandate of Christ that we develop characteristics that model Him. There are benefits that are rewarded in every realm of your personhood when you are truthful and trustworthy in your dealings. It is my aim to inspire a movement to shift the narrative with my study so it is imperative that it is presented truthfully is how I plan to report my findings.
