My topic: Medical Marijuana to treat anxiety
Identify the purpose of the paper
The purpose of this paper is to learn more about marijuana treatment. Humans have
been using marijuana for thousands of years in the hopes of alleviating mental and
physical ailments. Modern science has explored marijuana and its components for
the past few decades – with promising results. Despite the association between
marijuana’s soaring effect and paranoia, several components have shown potential
in relieving anxiety symptoms. Marijuana is a recreational drug that has been
legalized here in Canada and in some US states. During my field experience, some
clients testified that they were using marijuana to treat their anxiety. I would like to
use the opportunity of this research to learn more about how to use marijuana to
calm the symptoms of anxiety and other chronic illnesses, the benefits and
drawbacks, the dangers and or limitations. My paper will also exam the controversy
on how to use the drug to treat anxiety.
Explain why you are researching this topic

due to its medical and non-medical use. It is very important for the social worker to
become well informed on the subject in order to best assist clients. Although
marijuana is used for medical purposes, it remains a substance of abuse, hence the
need to accompany and monitor clients who are on this treatment.
Explain what you intend to learn about the topic.
My intention is to learn how to use marijuana to treat clients, to learn how to write a
prescription for marijuana and to know the side effects and limitations of marijuana
