cccccccccof Wisconsin in general, no specific city. I wanted to search this because of the pandemic and to see if it affected the numbers at all. In 2020, there was an estimate of 296,022 students who attended high school in grades 9-12. The margin of error for that was +- 1,882 and the percent margin of error for that was +- 0.1. Then, looking at 2018, the numbers do not have that big of a difference. In 2018, there were an estimated 300,208 students who attended high school in grades 9-12. The margin of error was +- 1,872 and the percent margin of error was +- 0.1. Therefore comparing these two, as I stated, there is only a small difference. For this data, I would write the null hypothesis as H_0: u_1=u_2. Hence the little difference in data change, the alternative hypothesis I would write as H_A: u_1<u_2. There is no significant data change.
This is interesting to look at though because it makes one wonder what the difference is. We could assume it could be from the pandemic, children not being able to afford school, or children who drop out. There are many variables as to why the little change happened. The difference was 4,186 students looking at 2018 and 2020 who did not attend high school again. Overall, the difference is important because educators could advocate for that decrease and encourage an increase in students. Lastly, the consequence of a change in values for our state of Wisconsin is that we have people who do not have a high school degree. It would make things difficult because most jobs require a high school degree and one needs to be educated to that level, at least. One may say that someone can drop out of high school and still obtain a GED, which is true, yes, but then again we need to advocate for those people. The decrease again could be due to many factors, so if these people are struggling with school/do not want to go we could say, then we need to push for the GED completion.
