The student must then post a reply of at least 200 words. In addition to supporting your initial comments from course
materials (with proper, current APA citation), the integration of a Christian worldview is always
appropriate.
When citing any of the presentations provided in the Learn sections, your references must look
like the following:
Brewer, G., & Peters, C., (n.d). [Insert audio lecture title or notes title]. Lynchburg, VA: Liberty

So, for example, a reference would look like this:

The week’s topics were interesting, although I’m not religious it was very interesting reading, I’ve never thought of integrating the two subjects, but I do think that integration between faith and psychology may work, but it must be cautious, because I strongly believe, that there is a fine line between religion and professional ethics. There was a statement in one saying that specific goals in non-religious-based counseling may lead to believing that goals will not be obtained if not within a specific time limit. (AACC,2007) This is definitely a false statement, depending on how much a client buys into religion can alter an outcome or progress. Counseling with religion-based can give certain clients more hope and belief that a particular path or treatment may be better. (Hawkins Clinton,2007) In the Brewer Peter presentation it speaks of the three parts of our overall health,(Mind, Body & Spirit) if secular counseling must address all three of these, it may not be as religious, however, it will be a spiritual approach(Brewer&Peter2015) Counselors should be aware of their clients’ overall beliefs and create an environment that is open and easily interchangeable for any belief or cultural differences, and counselors should be open to different beliefs and set aside their own opinions so the client can trust and be comfortable with them also the counselor must show compassion to the client.
Some may think that Christian counselors that there is a higher calling because a way of life and living in a biblical worldview because those devoted believe that they may be doing God’s work through counseling, (now I do not buy into that totally being that I was raised catholic and I have studied many religions), but I do believe that if we show compassion and treat all with respect it is an aspect of a higher power or being. The lectures did open my eyes to different ideas that may be useful if I do decide to practice any form of counseling, they widen my scope on how to use different approaches and the use of religion and secular ways together to embrace the best of both worlds in doing so I’d be able to help more clients on a wider range.
I cannot say that there is one answer to any of the questions asked especially “what is the solution to our problems”, as long as we are giving the client all possible remedies and catering to their beliefs and customs, and instilling some sort of hope or drive then I am willing to try any approach that gets the results I’m looking for.
