Research into health services benefit all of us in the health career field whether we are the administrator checking the patient in or the medical assistant taking vitals , the nurse giving the injection or the doctor doing the assessment of the patient. I personal have dealt with this many times in my career path in the medical field. I personal would like to see the patient’s quality of care improved. If we would do the preventative exams, and manage the patient as a whole and not just, put Band-Aids on the patients’ needs until another time we would have a greater impact on the population as a whole. People look to health care professionals as the saviors for them and too many of us are just not seeing that patient care is the most important aspect of what we do. No research, new trail, or medication is anything without a patient to use it on so patients must be the priority.
Health administrators can use research to improve multiple aspects of the patient. First when the research does apply a change in the techniques currently used, change them. If we do research and improve the quality of our patient then everything else improves as well. It is a “win win” effect. In the position, I currently hold we work with provider to improve their patient outcomes; we do this by being proactive in the patients care. Now as a provider, money is a big thing, but if we hit the metrics and improve the patient’s outcome the money comes because they are paid based on the patients quality of care.
